Allegro - Even Easier to Use

• Hear the note as you enter it in Simple Entry.
  
• Percussion enhancements! Choose a percussion map to see percussion noteheads. Percussion maps also "map" a MIDI input to a specific line on the staff.
  
• Apply percussion noteheads to selected measures witht Apply Alternate Notation.
  
• Load libraries into your files - instrument lists, percussion maps or chord symbols.
  
• The Setup Wizard will create percussion staves with percussion noteheads, where appropriate, when you select a percussion instrument.
  
• Percussion maps can be assigned while importing a MIDI file. Choose the clef, choose a channel, and choose which MIDI notes get percussion noteheads.
  
• Use the new Space Systems Evenly option in the Page Layout menu to distribute your staff systems on the page with the top and bottom systems lining up on the page margins. Space Systems Evenly will reflow the number of systems to find the maximum number that fit on a page and then respace those systems evenly.
  
• Page Breaks are now available in Page Layout. An icon is displayed on the system with a page break set. Just select the system and then Insert Page Break or Delete Page Break to set or clear a page break.
  
• Insert or delete systems into your music while keeping the rest of your systems intact or reflowing measures across systems and pages.
  
• Turn handy Page Layout icons (like Page Breaks or Locked Measures or Optimization) on and off in the View menu.
  
• Now, easily set the distance between a staff system and the staff system above (or the top page margin).
  
• Enhanced system dragging uses plain dragging to move one system and all following systems move. Control-drag to move only the system you are dragging. If this is the last system on a page, it will align the system to the bottom of the page.
  
• Lock the contents of systems as well as the number of measures. Use Fit Music in the Mass Mover menu and in the Page Layout menu to set a number of measures in a system and hold their contents as well. When measures are inserted, the measures stay put. A lock icon shows you when you've locked the contents.
  
• A new optimization icon shows where you've optimized the systems.
  
• Fit Music will optionally treat multi-measure rests as a single measure.
  
• Now you can select just the systems you want to change with regional selection in Page Layout. Drag-select, shift-click or select all of the handles to make changes to just the systems you want to change.
  
• The value for the top system margin is now the distance between the top staff line of the top staff and the dotted line drawn around the system.
  
• Change only the values you want to change with the new checkboxes in Edit System Margins dialog box.
  
• New Selection Tool! Double-click on most items and Allegro will switch to the appropriate tool.
  
• Import SmartScore® files! Scan files into the SmartScore program, then import the results into Allgro. Change the key, change the lyrics, and edit like any other notation file.
  
• Bring scanned files directly into Allegro. The MIDISCAN technology has been incorporated into your Allegro. Just scan your sheet music, then let Allegro transcribe it.
  
• Open Multiple files at the same time in the File Open dialog box. Shift-click to select additional files.
  
• Click the Lyric Tool and go. Type into Score for lyrics is now set as the default setting in the Lyric menu. See Lyric Tool.
  
• New "How Do I..?" chapter gives you a jump-start into step-by-step instructions in the manual.
  
• Improved Setup Wizard! Even more options to get your score setup quickly and easily, so you can get to work entering the music.
  
• Tap the tempo with your mouse! Set the tempo by tapping your mouse in the "Allegro is listening for tempo" dialog box.
  
• Alignment renamed Placement in the Text menu.
  
• Dockable Playback Controls. Always moving the Playback Controls out of the way? New Playback Controls are docked by default so they'll never cover up your music.
  
• Create and edit measure-attached text blocks in any view. Whether page-attached or measure-attached, you can always edit your text blocks.
  
• Always have a final barline on the last measure of the piece. As you change your score, the last measure has the final barline.
  
• Staff placement in Scroll View no longer affects staff placement in Page View. Move your staves around in Scroll View to make editing easier without messing up careful layout in Page View.
  
• Easier Swing Playback. No more guessing with the MIDI Tool, just set the swing on the fly with the Playback Controls.
  
• Have a cool file from a friend with Finale? Open the file and save a library of the chords and fretboards so you can use them in other documents. When loading a chord & fretboard library, duplicate suffixes are not added - only new unique ones.
  
• Mass Edit menu has been merged into the Mass Mover menu.
  
• Automatically sorts staves! If you re-arrange the staves vertically, Allegro will automatically redraw the barlines and brackets for the new order.
  
• Easier to enter rests in Speedy Entry when you're working in Hand-Free MIDI or without a MIDI keyboard.
  
• Better pickup measures will space short pickups into short measures..
