SmartScore Lite lets musicians transform printed sheet music into editable, printable files more accurately than any other notation software. In tests, Finale and SmartScore Lite outperformed a leading rival's system by a factor of 6 to 1, needing only 5 simple edits, as opposed to 30 more complex edits in PhotoScore Lite.
The most comprehensive Guitar Tab system available
Finale 2003 has more support for fretted instruments than any other notation system. Over 40 instruments and styles have their own specific tablature (ranging from custom-tuned six-strings and basses to lutes, mandolins, banjos, ukuleles, dulcimers and sitars). Note entry is simple, and can either be inputted as standard notation or directly as tab. Owners of MIDI guitars can notate as they play, and other guitarists can use MicNotator to notate single line melodies.
Enter notes directly into TAB staves. Or copy from a companion Standard Notation Staff to a TAB staff and vice-versa. Specify the lowest fret to use as you paste.
Once the music is in the tab staff, it is incredibly easy and intuitive to edit. For example, to change a fret number from '2' to '3', just select the note and type '3'.
Up and Down arrow keys move a selected number to other strings. Numbers appear in orange when out of fret range.
Finale 2003's handling of stems in tablature is unequaled in ease and power. Various stem styles are easily applied. Use the "Tab Styles" library that comes with Finale 2003 or create your own.

If you have frequently repeated rhythmic patterns that require the same slurring, articulations and expressions, this feature will save you hours of painstaking work. Select a group of notes with a desired articulation and SmartShape pattern and mark that pattern as a "style." Then simply apply to any other selected region—even an entire part or score! SmartFind and Paint will search out all rhythmically identical regions and place slurs, expressions, articulations, etc.—instantly.
